Father's Day Weekend

Again our weekend was very full and fun!  We were able to go down to San Diego friday afternoon.  We first saw Danny and Nikki Dodson's 5 week old baby Olivia.  She was such a doll and so much fun to hold.  I couldn't believe Julia was ever that small, but Julia was even smaller in her earliest time of life.  Then we were able to go over to the Plumbs house in 4S Ranch for Pat and Oscars dinner.  Julia was so happy to see her Grandpa and Grandma.  Tim, Becca, and Joshua came over to play games.  We ended up playing Mormon Bridge and as always Ron won.  Becca brought over some cookies that won 3rd place out of 15 in her ward that night and were super delicious!!  On Saturday morning, Riley played basketball down at Zions with Spencer and our old ward.  I was able to go on a perfect cool sunny weather 3 1/2 mile run once he came back.  We all ate Chinese for lunch and had to head back up to Newport for the night.  We weren't able to see all the other Plumbs on Saturday because they went down to San Diego Old Town to the Mormon Battalion.  On our way back up to Newport we hit horrible traffic due to accidents on the 78 and 5 so it took us over 2 hours to get back up there.  We checked in to the Balboa Bay Club and Resort around 4:30.  We first missed the place and had to do a U-turn because we were distracted by the Ferrari store across the street.  We picked up some taco bell because the food prices at the hotel were huge.  Riley headed over to his pre-cruise cocktail party at 5:00 and I headed over to the pool to play with Julia.  They had a warmed baby pool, Julia played in her floaty and made some friends.  Our friends Melanie and Ty came over and met us at the pool and then we let the kids play around in our room afterward.  Riley's yacht left about 6:00 and he got back around 9:00.  He said the yacht was really expensive nice and they fed them a really nice dinner.  He met some big wigs and had a blast staying sober with his friend Brandon.  After the yacht they all went to Duke's Place - a restaurant/bar at the Balboa Bay Club.  Meanwhile, Julia and I fell asleep to watching some TV in our room so that she wouldn't do her normal crying at night.  On Sunday morning, we were going to go to the Father's Day breakfast, but it was $50 a plate, so we just toured the hotel that morning.  We went over to my parents house in San Juan and had breakfast and took naps before we headed out to my sister Debbie's ward in Ladera Ranch.  There were some great talks for Father's Day.  Afterwards we went back to the parents house and played Settlers which Russ won of course by getting 6 points in one turn at the end!  Grandma Matlock came over too, Julia loves to play with her great grandma.  We had grilled chicken and steak for dinner to honor the men in our family.  My mom really knows how to grill because the food was excellent.  We made it home for Julia to fall asleep on time and we were all exhausted from our weekend.
