FRIDAY, August 5th!

Hensel Phelps Surf Day!

Riley's work put on a special surf day for all new employees (less than a year) at Redondo Beach.  They had private surf lessons from 8-12 and a lunch at Baja Sharkeez.  We got there about 8:30 in the morning and had to wake up Julia a little early from her nighttime sleep.  They had breakfast and tons of surfboards and wetsuits for lessons.  Riley brought his two boards and didn't really use their stuff.  We got to talk with all of his coworkers which were totally nice and cool.  He really works with some great people.  Julia crawled on the wet sand for the first time.  She only got her hand in her mouth three times, which I think is a success.  She was crawling all up and down the beach on the wet sand, she absolutely loved it.  Her poor little knees were so red later on.  And there were little sand crabs everywhere so I was really careful with her.  She was able to take an hour and a half nap in her tent which was perfect.  She was really out cold with the waves and wind sounds.  Then we all headed up to a restaurant/bar which had great mexican food.  It was overall a great time and Riley's work is so generous to their new employees.

Below are some pictures of Julia in the car on the way back from Redondo Beach.

Angels Game

It was Mormon night at Angels Stadium.  We went to a tailgate party with our ward beforehand under the big A in the parking lot.  It was super fun with tons of delicious meat.  We sat literally one row before the last row in Angels stadium, but our positioning was perfect for the field.  We got to sit with lots of friends in our ward - we kept running into other ward members, it made it really fun!!  $11 tickets were well worth it.  We even saw Amanda and Donevan there.  Julia had a tough time at first with the sporadic cheering, so then she cuddled up to Riley and I.  There was no way she could fall asleep with all that sound. She was able to stay up until the end of the game - which was really not easy.  I figured one night wouldn't hurt her.  They had fireworks at the end which was surprisingly a great show.  Julia got to bed around 11:00 and I knew she was going to be sleep deprived the next day.

Family love :-)
although high, we had a beautiful view!
Too Cute!  My two favorite peeps!
