I was thinking a lot the other day about what the world believes about Jesus Christ. I know 100% that he is our Savior and Redeemer and Lord. But most people don't have that kind of faith. Then I started to think about what if they think that Jesus Christ is like Santa Claus, just a person made up to make you do good in this life. Santa Claus makes little kids behave before Christmas time and sometimes parents use it for an excuse throughout the year like..."You won't get any presents if you behave this way...you will get coal for Christmas if you do that bad thing...etc etc" Then they get presents if they are good. Then around age 8 or so, their parents have to tell them that it was all a lie and that Santa Claus does not exist. That Santa Claus is just a tradition and holiday. I wonder if some people believe this about Jesus Christ, that he is just a huge lie to make you behave and live a good life. Then when you are young adult, and think you know everything and want to explore everything, you think that maybe it was a lie and that life is for the survival of the fittest or something of that sort. I discussed this with my husband Riley the other night. He told me that the answer to these people are "look at the presents (BLESSINGS) you get from each one" ---- From Santa Claus, you get material things, some things that are easy to break and typically only make you happy for a month or so. Probably the most happy the day you receive it and then it lessens over time. The surprise of what you are getting is amazing and then it declines from there. Maybe you wont always get these presents every year because of different circumstances. However, the blessings you receive from following Jesus Christ and his gospel are UNDENIABLE, ETERNAL, JOYFUL, etc. If you follow his commandments, you WILL get blessings. They can last forever and the feelings of joy can last forever. I see blessings in my life from trying to live a Christ-centered life - a wonderful happy daughter, an amazing faithful caring husband, a beyond amazing family and extended family, loving parents and grandparents, a great job for my husband, good health, a home, living without stress on finances because we are living within our means and are not in debt, safety, happiness, a constant testimony, so many things I can name forever. Jesus Christ is not like Santa Claus and I want to bear my testimony of this. Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He was born to Mary some 2000 years ago and he is the Son of God. He ministered and performed miracles. He gave us the Atonement in Gethsemane, the biggest GIFT of all. Something money will NEVER buy. He was resurrected after his death on the cross. He visited his apostles as recorded in the Bible and then he visited the Americas for a small time with his Resurrected body as recorded in the Book of Mormon. His gospel and teachings bring us so many blessings. I love Him and I love my Heavenly Father. I am grateful for my knowledge. And I thank you for reading, I hope its not too scrambled, I just thought that this was interesting and that I should share.
